Environmental Health Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Environmental Health Specialists help enforce government regulations and educates clients. They specialize in improving the water supply and sanitize facilities. They are also involved in improving the community’s environment. They often:
·         Collect and analyze samples.
·         They do screen samples for possible health hazards.
·         Manage sanitation disposal and water systems.
·         Supervise disposal of infectious wastes
·         Develop and manage prevention and education programs to get more people to help and be informed
·         Evaluate and identify health hazards and ensure compliance with regulations
Average Salary: $25,000 - $50,000
Educational Requirements:
Students should take college preparatory courses, especially in mathematics and science, during high school. Taking AP mathematics and science should be advised. As an Environmental Health Specialist it requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental or environmental engineering. Many require certification and/or a Master’s Degree in these fields.

I love to be aware of what’s going on in today’s environment but I don’t think I would want to specialize in environmental health. It would be more as a volunteer work if anything because we do need to take care of today’s planet. It is in fact interesting but it’s not for me in my perspective.
